About the author:

Bob Morton has been an ADI since 1989 working in the North East of England. He joined LDC in the Spring of 1991 as the company was in its infancy and joined the training team. Bob quickly progressed and became team leader in the North East and developed LDCs Northern team.

A move to Yorkshire saw Bob taking on more responsibility, becoming a lead trainer and joining the team interviewing prospective new ADIs. In his time with LDC he did just about every job in the company and retired as Director of Training in August 2021 having 30 years of service with LDC helping them to grow into one of the biggest driving schools in the UK yet with a reputation for taking good care of its instructors.

Since qualifying Bob has spent time developing his own skills and always looks for opportunities to develop further. A keen interest in coaching following the HERMES report in 2010 lead to a journey that helped to re-write a lot of the training materials used to include a heavily coaching based approach.

Bob was responsible for the creation and development of the ADI development arm of the company which included gaining accredited status to deliver officially approved training courses from EDEXEL (now Pearson) City and Guilds, ILM (institute of leadership and management), British Safety Council. Along the way, Bob gained the Certificate in Assessing vocational achievement and the Award in Internal Quality Assurance.

Bob was also responsible for the writing, development and delivery of a new Fleet accreditation course which allows LDC to run a course giving ADIs access to the Fleet register.

Bob developed an interest in the teacher training world and started on a journey that saw him gain PTLLS, CTLLS, and DTLLS (Diploma to Teach in Lifelong Learning Sector, now known as the Diploma in Education and Training.

Unwilling to fully retire, Bob will be devoting time to his Client Centred Learning company where he will focus on providing training materials and online courses to help ADIs become the best version of themselves they can be. New offering for 2021 is his subscription service, where, for less than the price of a driving lesson you can access all of his online content. , coaching and workshops.
